CISCO ISDN Call accounting and statistics

Introduction

The goal of this plug-in is to make ISDN accounting on calls performed by Cisco router. create statistic report per source and destination on call duration and allows you to perform cost control over your ISDN lines.

The Cisco ISDN Call Statistics plug-in is used to analyze the files generated by the Cisco ISDN call history plug-in. It provides in 3 tables, detailed statistic information on the ISDN activity that help you to make cost control.

Warning: The Cisco ISDN call history plug-in is absolutely required before using this program, consult the Cisco ISDN call history plug-in documentation.

For each destination, the number of calls and their duration are summarized, the average duration per call is calculated and the maximum call length is retained. Finally the sum of all the incoming, outgoing and all calls are performed. This statistic could be done per day, or on a range of days. Filters could be applied to select for example a specific destination. Statistic file could be saved and compressed. The results are immediately displayed but could be saved in a report in html format for further reading.

Launching the program

From the Directory TAB, open the contextual menu of any host with a right click, select  Tools and Cisco ISDN Stats.

Reading ISDN log Files

The file generated by the Cisco ISDN call history plug-in contains the list of all calls recorded on a specific Cisco router. The Cisco ISDN call history collector creates a file for each day, the file contain an entry per call, for each it stores the calling number, the called number, the duration, etc.

By default the log generated by Cisco ISDN call history collector are store in bin/www/log in the LoriotPro dircetory.

Cisco ISDN statistics plug-in has to read this file for generating the statistics. Results are displayed in three tables.

ISDN call stats interface

The interface is composed of 3 tables:

Details of all calls: This table contains all the calls, incoming or outgoing gathered from a file or a group of files. The maximum supported by this table is  10000 calls.

Statistics per call Number peer: This table contains a first analysis of the previous table. The calls are counted by source and destination peer and summarized to provide for each peer the number of calls realized and their total duration.

Totals: This table contains the summarized time for all calls separated in Incoming and outgoing calls.

The steps for using the program are simple.

First you should know what files you want to analyze. Select the file with the file selector.

ISDn call stats history files

For starting the analysis you have the choice between :

If you select the file on scan range option you should specify the First date and Ending date.

range of time ISND call stats

The file mane header is always isdnhistory... but you can specify another one if you have renamed or saved your reports under new names.

When you made a file selection the double click starts immediately the scan of the file(s). The Scanning Status bar shows you the current line read and the number of successful matches if a filter has been set.

Filtering on keywords

You can also filter within the file on a key word. It could be a name or number. Enter the Key words (two maximumn) and operator AND/OR and select a files or files to browse. The Calls containing the keyword are displayed.

Statistics description

The Statistic per call Number Peer table shows the calls for each couple of number. If two Cisco routers are able to initiate the call between them two entries are created in the table, one for the incoming call (from the point of view of the router where the log are collected) and one for the outgoing call.

Two symbols are used in front of each table entry.

The call is an incoming call

The call is an outgoing call

Each line contains the statistics for all calls made between two distinguished Cisco routers.

Ordering Statistics

When the statistics are displayed it is possible to reorder the result by clicking on a column header

ordering ISDN call

Exporting call list to CSV file.

The list of calls could be exported into .csv files. The name of the file shoud be isdnhistory__ if you want to be able to see it from the file selection window.

Creating a report

A report could be created from the current displayed results. To create a report select the  Create Report button.

Give a Name and select OK.

Open the report by clicking on view report.

ISDN calls statistics report

The report displays the date of generation, the name of the router.

One table displays the list of files used for the report.

The last two tables contains the total times of the calls and the table of statistics per host peer.
