RRD implementation in LoriotPro

LoriotPro software uses the RRD tool software program(s) for database access and graph generation. LoriotPro RRD plugins are graphical Front End of RRD tool. When using the LoriotPro RRD functionnalities, background RRD tool commands are issued.

Two LoriotPro plugin for RRD are available in LoriotPro

RRD Collector performs the data collection, database feeding, graph and report access. RRD Collector is a LoriotPro directory plugin. The source for the data collection can be SNMP value(s), ping reponse time value(s), LUA script return value(s). With RRD Collector you do n ot need to know the complex syntax of RRD tool, everything is automatically created and you have to focus on the collected data. RRD Collector provides default configuration parameters but also allows you to use customized configuration that you created with RRD Manager.

RRD Manager performs management tasks over RRD database, graphics, reports. This LoriotPro service plugin allows you to acces the RRD tool options from afull graphical interface and simplify the database creation, the graphic profile creation, the report creation. RRD manager allows you to create customized databases and graphics and use them with the RRD collector.

The following graph displays the components of the LoriotPro RRD front end solution.

On the left side of the graph RRD Collectors collect data form various data sources (snmp, ping, script) and store them in RRD database. RRD Database schemas are defined in profiles (XML files). RRD manager acces Database configuration and profiles, graph and report settings.
